The seventh and eighth grade girls of Bnos Malka (BMA) had the special z’chus to participate in the Boots for Israel program. The program, started by a former BMA parent, Yakir Wachstock, has furnished the chayalim with over 46,000 pairs of boots. What started with a middle-of-the-night phone call to help get 88 pairs of boots has evolved into a campaign that engages countless volunteers and schools to support the effort of the IDF.
It’s springtime at the Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central), which means a flurry of much-anticipated events: Color War, Senior Seminar, Envision Shakespeare, and the spring sports season. On Thursday, March 28, YCQ was awarded the First Place School at the Debate Tournament hosted by the Yeshiva of Central Queens. YCQ students Sophie Sisser and Aiden Olsen were awarded First Place Team, and Aiden won First Place Speaker as well.
YSZ prioritizes education that resonates with the students' interests and preferences, ensuring an engaging and effective learning experience. In Rabbi Braun's class this week, the 4th graders embarked on a hands-on adventure in honor of Pesach. With Rabbi Braun's guidance, the students dove into the process of making grape juice from scratch, an activity that not only connected them to the traditions of the holiday but also instilled a sense of accomplishment and connection to their heritage. With grapes and utensils provided by Rabbi Braun, the classroom buzzed with excitement as the students eagerly participated in every step of the process. Through this interactive and enjoyable approach to learning, YSZ aims to cultivate not only knowledge but also a lifelong love for exploration and discovery among students.
Purim is a time of fun and positive energy, and students at the Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central) have been making the most of the holiday with special programming and events. Dress-up days, including the much-anticipated “Dress Like a Teacher Day,” provided fun, as did the legendary annual Purim Shpiel and Purim Day visits at the homes of Central faculty members in Brooklyn, Queens, Great Neck, Lawrence, and West Hempstead.
