We now begin the first of the brachos referred to as “Birchos K’rias Shema.” We have previously completed the second and third of the Birchos Shema: Ahavah Rabah and Ga’al Yisrael (Ezras Avoseinu).

Mah rabu maasecha, Hashem; kulam b’chochmah asisa, mal’ah ha’aretz kinyanecha

 How great are Your works, Hashem; You make them all with wisdom, the world is full of Your possessions.

Yotzeir or u’vorei choshech, oseh shalom u’vorei es ha’kol.

…who forms light and creates darkness, makes peace, and creates all.

Elokei olam, b’rachamecha ha’rabim racheim aleinu, Adon uzeinu, tzur misgabeinu, magein yish’einu, misgav ba’adeinu

Eternal G-d, with Your abundant compassion be compassionate to us – O Master of our strength, our rock-like stronghold, O Shield of our salvation, be a stronghold for us.

Ha’mei’ir la’aretz v’la’darim aleha b’rachamim, u’v’tuvo m’chadeish b’chol yom tamid maasei b’reishis.

 He Who illuminates the earth and those who dwell upon it, with compassion, and in His goodness renews daily, perpetually, the work of creation.
