On the first day of the Republican National Convention, shortly after officially receiving the Republican nomination for President of the United States, former President Donald Trump chose junior Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio to be his running mate. It’s a pick that shows both the confidence of the Trump campaign and the potential longevity of the MAGA movement.

When a neighborhood is in high demand, institutions respond to growth by expanding. Three years after I moved to West Hempstead, the streetscape continues to change. One bullet grazed his left ear and others whizzed past him, one killing retired volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50. He died heroically, protecting his wife and daughter.

Those who didn’t watch the debate performance last Thursday night still have a chance of blissful ignorance that the President of the United States is not an escaped hospice patient suffering from advanced senility.  The rest of us, however, can harbor no more delusions about Joe Biden’s mental faculties.  There is a power vacuum at the head of our country, and that was on full display on Thursday night.

Ignore what the media is telling you, ignore the Democrat Party and donor class; Joe Biden - barring some medical emergency - will be the nominee in November against Donald Trump.  He has no desire to leave the race, all the money is behind him, all the primary votes are in his corner.  There is no methodology to forcibly remove him from the ticket.  He’s going to stay, so Democrats are going to double down on trying to elect him.

My friends know that I watch a good political show with the same enthusiasm as a sports fan cheering on a favorite team. Whether it is an acceptance speech, inauguration, prime time address, or the State of the Union Address, this country has a long history of memorable oratory fireworks. Last week’s presidential debate between incumbent Joe Biden and his opponent Donald Trump was historic for being the first rematch debate with two of the oldest candidates for the office, and questions whether Biden’s age was a factor in his lackluster performance.
