Amidst a surge in high-profile crimes within New York City’s subway system, Governor Kathy Hochul has deployed nearly 1,000 personnel, including 750 National Guard members, state police, and transit officers, to conduct bag checks at key stations.

It rings again and there is still no one there, and the Caller ID says “Unknown.” Jordie tells him to turn out the lights and lock the door. Zevi is scared and wants to know what is going on. Jordie suggests that, as a distraction, they read the journal that his grandmother gave them.

New York recently finalized its congressional map after a contentious redistricting process, with surprising bipartisan agreement. The Democratic-controlled state legislature passed the map, which was signed into law by Governor Kathy Hochul.
Recap: Zevi’s parents left, and he and Jordie go to shul. On the way back from shul, there’s a car that seems to be following them and then it seems to be chasing them. Jordie asks Zevi for a different way to walk home. Jordie keeps looking behind him and Zevi is scared and wondering who was chasing them.
