 Frédéric Bastiat was a prolific French economist and political philosopher who lived from 1801 to 1850. In his relatively short lifetime, he published dozens of books and essays covering a litany of economic and political issues, ranging from socialism to free trade. As a vigorous and passionate defender of liberty and freedom, he vehemently opposed his country’s economic trajectory toward socialism, and any and all policies that, as he understood it, encroached on the liberties and freedoms of his fellow citizens.

 Chazal teach us, “Kol Yisrael areivim ze la’zeh – All Jews are responsible for one another.” At a time when Israel is in danger, shuls and kosher markets are being attacked, anti-Semitism is rampant on college campuses, prominent politicians make blatantly anti-Semitic statements, and the New York State Department of Education is seeking to dictate what is taught and who may teach in our yeshivos. It is our responsibility to stand up for our fellow Jews in Israel and around the world.

 A learned friend/mentor of mine, who is a strong Trump supporter, agreed with me that Trump is a fool for this whole impeachment mess that he got himself into, although we both believe that Trump has, besides his love for Israel and Jews, a very strong and effective approach and insight on how to deal with international thugs such as Kim Jung Un and the Iranian leaders.

 Orthodox New Yorkers should immediately change their party registration to Democrat. No, this is not a misprint. You read this right. Today, the big political battle in New York is no longer between Democrats and Republicans. Anyone who is paying attention knows it is the fight between the moderate and the progressive wings of the Democratic Party.
