I have read with interest and appreciation the comments of Rav Yoel Schonfeld, in your issue prior to Pesach, regarding the importance of proper dress during davening. A letter to the editor took issue with Rabbi Schonfeld and felt that a person should dress, while davening, in a way that makes one feel “comfortable.”

Last week’s letter by Arlene Ross was a biased response. Ms. Ross assumed that Assemblyman Weprin’s office was behind the article from March 9, when in fact, Assemblyman Weprin’s office had nothing to do with it. I was neither coached nor advised how to answer the interviewer’s questions. So, from what knowledge was Ms. Ross “speaking” when she wrote, “It’s no surprise that Weprin’s office wouldn’t want QJL’s readers aware of his views on this…” Ms. Ross, it is not good practice to project one’s own feelings on others. Don’t make assumptions, and get your facts straight!

Samuel Mark, in his letter to the editor two issues ago, took me to task for a number of issues. I do not wish to respond to his entire lengthy letter, especially since good portions of it made no sense to me.

A few weeks back, I took Warren Hecht to task for what I felt was his insensitivity to our Jewish brethren in Israel who were murdered in several terrorist attacks. After reading Shmuel Sackett’s column this week, I’m getting a strangely similar feeling about OU Executive Vice President Rabbi Moshe Hauer. It’s a bit odd for me to criticize Rabbi Hauer as I consider myself more hashkafically aligned with Rabbi Hauer than Shmuel Sackett.

March Madness! No, I’m not referring to the complex chart of college basketball teams that vie against each other and that betting pools worth millions are set up for. Instead, I’m talking about Adar and the complexities and worries that it brings. I know that when Adar comes, one should be merry, but let’s face it, women: When Adar comes, one is worried.
