Astronauts really are made of the right stuff. They are exceptionally bright, have complex technical skills, are in outstanding physical condition, and have perfect vision. They are also exceptionally courageous, reliable in case of an emergency, and trusted with highly prized secrets. Their missions into space helped transform the present into a better tomorrow. Many, interestingly enough, are Jewish.

In the year that followed, antisemitic incidents in the city reached a historic high, with Jews targeted in 54% of all reported hate crimes, according to NYPD statistics.

New York City - and the Jewish world - is in mourning after a mass shooting at a Midtown Manhattan office building on Monday left four people dead and one critically wounded. Among the victims were two young Jewish professionals: Wesley LePatner, 43, a senior managing director at Blackstone, and Julia Hyman, 27, an associate at Rudin Management.
