Recap: Yehudis has supper alone with Miss Gross, because her father had to go to help his mother. She finds out that Miss Gross was also adopted. In the meantime, there are scary noises outside; when she opens the door, she sees a man leaving. Miss Gross says he was the man who wanted the journal. Miss Gross stays for Shabbos because Yehudis is afraid to be alone. They start reading the journal to see if there is a clue of why the man wants it so badly.

 Equilibration - a term used by Jean Piaget, a Swiss psychologist known for his work on child development. Oversimplified, equilibration is the balancing of a child’s current understanding of the world with new information as it arises.

 Transferring one’s home to another person or persons, subject to a life estate, has been a staple strategy of elder law planning for a very long time. Recap: In the journal, Yishai went to help out Miriam and Ezra. Ezra is away, and there is a blizzard, and now it looks like Miriam is going into labor. Yishai must go out into the blizzard to get help. Back in the present, Yehudis is not happy in the new school. She wanted to be friends with Sari but Sari’s friend is giving her a cold shoulder. On top of that, she discovered that her father is dating someone and that someone is invited for supper.
