Orot hosted a Tu Bi’Shvat challah bake this past Wednesday evening, February 7. Women from around the community united to participate in this holy mitzvah. As they kneaded the dough at Ohr Natan in Rego Park, they were reminded of the distinctive holy attributes associated with each ingredient and what to pray for while adding them. The women took time praying for the wellbeing of the soldiers risking their lives every day for Israel, for the hostages to be freed, and for the coming of Mashiach.

The YCQ team secured a remarkable seven medals and proudly clinched the coveted trophy for Best School at the recent league debate tournament hosted by Ben Porat Yosef in Paramus, New Jersey.

The Yeshiva University High School for Girls is starting the spring semester by making the world its classroom. On Tuesday, January 30, Central’s senior-level Modern Jewish Thinkers course, led by History Department faculty member Mr. Richard Isaacs, ventured outside Queens for a day in Crown Heights, where the group was treated to a guided tour through the home neighborhood of the Chabad Lubavitch.

The boys in Mrs. Adress’ fourth-grade class at Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe were invited to a Chocolate Party to celebrate finishing The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Skene Catling. While making brownies, the class practiced cracking eggs and doubling a recipe. Each boy then got to choose his own toppings of mini-chocolate chips, mini-marshmallows, or lotus crumbs, and of course some boys chose to add all three!

HALB Middle School students had the incredible opportunity to hear from an IDF soldier and to thank him for protecting Eretz Yisrael and am Yisrael. It was an informative, moving, and inspiring experience for the students and teachers alike. Thank you to Moshe Bodner of the Israel Chesed Center for arranging this.

Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe recently celebrated the conclusion of the wonderful V’Taher Libeinu T’filah Program enhancing the t’filos of the talmidim in sixth to eighth grades. The boys successfully refrained from any talking during Shacharis, Minchah, and Maariv (just Shacharis for sixth grade) for a full month.
