Rosh Chodesh Kislev was filled with energy and joy at Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe. The Early Childhood Program kicked off the celebration with an engaging Rosh Chodesh “Dreidel Dancing” activity.
The boys discussed the significance of the dreidel, learning how it was used by the Jews to deceive the Y’vanim (the Syrian-Greeks) into thinking they weren’t studying Torah. Together, they reviewed the letters on the dreidel and their meaning – neis gadol hayah sham (“A great miracle happened there”) – in Eretz Yisrael. Morah Ahuva explained that, in Eretz Yisrael, one letter is different: instead of a shin for sham, they use a pei for po (“here”), symbolizing that the miracle happened locally.
The boys then had a blast singing “I Have a Little Dreidel” with humorous twists, imagining dreidels made of sand, snow, and even soap! The laughter and giggles echoed through the lunchroom as they played a lively game of “Dreidel Freeze Dancing.” This fun-filled activity set the stage for their Chanukah lessons with their moros, leaving the boys eager to learn more.
The Rosh Chodesh excitement continued at the schoolwide mesibah, where raffles for the Sukkos Ki Heim Chayeinu program were drawn. To top it all off, the Parents Association generously ensured that every talmid received delicious chocolate gelt. It was a memorable day for all!
