A week in Poland and Prague was more than a summer trip for 41 Emet Outreach college students. It was an experience that left participants with gratitude for their Jewish heritage, an appreciation of their daily lives, and a determination to strengthen their connection to Hashem. The itinerary was organized to celebrate Jewish survival from the midst of destruction. Emmanuella Borukh explained, “I really think it helps you understand what being a Jew means and the connection that all Jews have to each other. It’s more than an experience; it’s really a journey.”

1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East has officially endorsed Sam Berger campaign for New York State Assembly. 1199SEIU is both the largest private-sector union in New York State, and the largest healthcare workers union in the country. The union represents over 200,000 healthcare workers in New York City, and over 300,000 healthcare workers statewide. 

The atmosphere was tense as the special meeting unfolded at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion at Hempstead Town Hall. This pivotal gathering sought to address the longstanding concerns surrounding the Capri Motor Inn on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead. With key figures present, including council members, community leaders, and representatives, the event offered a platform for the West Hempstead community to engage in a dialogue about the fate of the establishment.

The Yeshiva of Central Queens is thrilled to introduce their newest staff members, a dynamic group of experienced and enthusiastic educators and administrators who will complement their spectacular returning faculty. Four new positions have been created for this year to best serve our students and teachers.

The Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 2,500 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in matters of American public policy, last week deplored the decision of a Tennessee Court of Appeals panel granting a Jewish couple standing to sue the state Department of Children’s Services for permitting religious foster care agencies to provide services in accordance with their religious principles. Calling the ruling a “blow to religious freedom that potentially places Jewish children at risk,” CJV expressly rejected the couple’s claim, now echoed by the Court and widely reported, that the couple was denied services “due to their Jewish faith,” implying anti-Semitic bias where none exists.
