David HaMelech teaches us in T’hilim (32:10): “The one who trusts in Hashem, kindness will surround him.” If you put your trust in Hashem, He will shower you with kindness. Chazal assure us that Hashem grants special protection, mercy, and kindness to those who put their absolute trust in Him. Rabbeinu Bachya ben Asher, the Kad HaKemach, wrote: “One who trusts in Gd, he is rewarded by being carried high above affliction – even when it is befitting for such affliction to befall him.”

Love for the Livshitz family was on full display as well over 100 participants turned out despite a pouring rain for Renewal’s living kidney donations informational seminar at the Young Israel of Queens Valley last month. The program was hosted on behalf of Donny Livshitz, who together with his wife Leah (daughter of Kew Gardens Hills longtime residents Avrumie and Malkie Itzkowitz), spent many years in the Kew Gardens Hills community before moving to the Five Towns.

On the eve of remembering Tish’ah B’Av, the Jewish anniversary of national destruction, the opportunity to contribute to Israel’s restoration was presented by the Young Israel of Holliswood, Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, and the Israel Action Committee.

With all eyes looking at the results of the Presidential election, voters can serve themselves far more by focusing on local candidates that can ease their day-to-day burdens.  As the race for New York’s Assembly District 25 heats up into a strong race for a change in how Albany governs, Kenneth Paek emerges as a compelling candidate, drawing on his extensive background in law enforcement and his deep-rooted commitment to community safety. 

For years, a staple of the Queens Jewish community has been the tz’dakah and programming provided by Chazaq, the preeminent organization dedicated to building a stronger future. Partnering with the Met Council, one of their primary charitable focusses has been the food pantry, which is available to any family in need. Recently, the drive included a new volunteer.
