On Sunday, October 31, more than 6,000 people around the globe joined together to celebrate the Chag HaSemikhah 5782 of Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS). This year’s ceremony recognized 147 new rabbinic graduates as they received their ordination.

During domestic violence awareness month, Met Council sent out the clear message that you are not alone if you identify with one of the following queries: Does your partner try to run your life or tell you what you can say or do? Does your partner constantly put you down, call you names, or embarrass you in public? Does your partner restrict access to your finances? Do you feel physically or emotionally threatened by your partner?

Met Council is opening the list for their 100% affordable senior housing at one of their beautiful buildings in Canarsie’s “Council Towers Village.” Seniors will now be able to apply for this super-affordable 122-unit, 12 story building with exceptional amenities including a laundry room, community room, park-esque grounds with gardens and 24 hour building and security staff and pay very low rents.

The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) announced this week that Avi Frier of Hollywood, Florida, has been named its new National Program Director. In his new role, Frier will provide training and support for Youth and Program Directors at Young Israel branches across the United States.

Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar leads a district that includes nearby areas including Forest Park, Glendale, Liberty Park, and Woodhaven. Her eagerness to bring more services to her constituents led the Assembly Member to take a detailed tour of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation facility last Tuesday, where she was deeply impressed with the level of care given to residents.
