In this week’s parshah, we read of Avraham Avinu’s search for a wife for Yitzchak – a mission filled with t’filah, emunah, and siyata diShmaya. When Eliezer stands at the well, he doesn’t rely on his own wisdom or experience. Instead, he turns to Hashem and says, “Hashem, Elokei adoni Avraham, please cause something to happen before me today.”
Eliezer’s heartfelt t’filah shows us that even in moments when we’re acting – when we’re planning, doing, or deciding – we must still remember that success comes only from Hashem. Human effort and heavenly help must go hand in hand.
Chazal tell us that Rivkah’s chesed at the well – offering water not only to Eliezer but to all his camels – revealed her true essence. She didn’t just meet the bare minimum; she gave with a full heart. That is the kind of chesed that builds batim ne’emanim b’Yisrael – homes founded on generosity, humility, and faith.
In our own lives, we all face moments when we must act, decide, or build – whether it’s a relationship, a family, or a goal. Like Eliezer and Rivkah, may we do so with emunah and chesed, remembering that when our hearts are open to others and our eyes are lifted to Hashem, He guides our path every step of the way.
May our t’filos and acts of kindness this week bring brachah, hatzlachah, and r’fuah to all of klal Yisrael.
