Hidden Sparks, the New-York-based organization that has helped over 8000 educators with coaching and training to help all students reach their potential, has announced the launch of a new Parent Learning Series this summer. Led by seasoned educators and child development specialists, the series offers accessible, expert-led sessions filled with practical strategies for parents and caregivers of early childhood through 8th grade to support the child’s learning and behavior at home.
“We know that parents play a critical factor in a child’s classroom success and we welcome the chance to share our proven strategies in a format specifically designed for the home,” says Rabbi Elisha Hus, Director of School Services for Hidden Sparks. “We firmly believe that when a parent gains the tools and strategies, they can have a path towards supporting their children in a more robust way that will ultimately lead to more confident and happy children. Parenting in the 21st century, particularly with so many digital and social distractions and impediments, can be overwhelming. This course is intended to help parents learn the skills to be able to face all sorts of obstacles and help our children thrive at school and at home.”
The subsidized course will cover many topics including understanding different areas of learning strengths and struggles in the home and in school, navigating social challenges, as well as communication strategies to strengthen connection and how to partner effectively with teachers. Participants will join two in-person sessions in New York City as well as virtual evening sessions and parent support sessions to reflect and discuss practical applications of the newly acquired tools.
“We are particularly excited to bring a curriculum that has been so impactful for teachers yet is novel for parents, and we believe it offers a new paradigm for the field,” said Debbie Niderberg, co-founder and Executive Director of Hidden Sparks. “We believe that helping parents gain deeper insight into learning and behavior, along with providing them with more tools, will have a profound impact on nurturing stronger children and families and strengthen the home-school partnership.”
