The mitzvah of giving tzedakah is a cornerstone of Jewish life, reflecting our commitment to chesed (kindness) and unity. As King David declares in Tehillim (89:3), “Olam chesed yibaneh”—“The world is built on kindness.”
The Midrash teaches that when a person in need seeks help, Hashem stands beside them. By extending a hand to others, we emulate Hashem’s kindness and bring blessings into our own lives, as it says in Tehillim (41:2), “Ashrei maskil el dal, b’yom ra’ah yemalteihu Hashem”—“Praiseworthy is he who considers the poor; on a day of hardship, Hashem will save him.”
May our collective prayers and acts of chesed bring healing, protection, and salvation to those in need.
