Historic Centennial celebration to recognize philanthropists Chella Safra and the Wilf family and celebrate YU’s growth, success, and enduring impact

Yeshiva University’s celebration of 100 years of Hanukkah Dinners was announced last week. This historic event honors a century of past YU success, including its recent accomplishments, growth of its academic programs, and expansion of its global leadership following the events of Oct. 7. With an immersive program that captures the giants of the past generation who were honored by YU, including Albert Einstein, Jonas Salk, Golda Meir and John F. Kennedy, the evening will both transport participants through the decades and look forward at the bright future ahead.

The dinner features the illustrious foundational families who have built Yeshiva University over its first century and will bring together the premier American Jewish lay and philanthropic leadership of our times. Daniel S. Loeb, Mitchell Julis, and Anita Zucker will serve as dinner chairs, with Ingeborg and Ira Rennert as honorary chairs, and Shari Redstone, Harry Adjmi, and Terry Kassel and Paul Singer as honorary co-chairs.

Dinner honorees include global Jewish leaders and dedicated philanthropists, Chella Safra, and the Wilf Family.

Chella Safra, member of the Yeshiva University Board of Trustees, Chair of the Moise Y. Safra Philanthropic Foundation, will receive an honorary doctorate. Mrs. Safra also serves as treasurer of the World Jewish Congress and as a member of the Harvard Global Advisory Committee.

The Wilf family, members of the Yeshiva University Board of Trustees, and owners of Garden Homes, the Minnesota Vikings, Orlando City SC and Orlando Pride, will accept the Centennial Medallion.

“There is no institution comparable to YU in the history of the world,” said Rabbi Dr. Ari Berman, President of Yeshiva University. “This year’s centennial dinner gives us the opportunity to look back with great appreciation on our over 100-year roots as we build upon it to capture the enormous opportunities for YU today.”
