The Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, the Queens Jewish Community Council, the Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association, and the Queens Jewish Link invite the wider community to the Dr. Simon Lopata Shavuos Forum for a lecture, Antisemitism Today.

The program will feature four powerful panelists: Mitchel Aeder, President of the Orthodox Union; Hon. Nily Rozic, NYS Assembly Member for District 25; Dr. Jerry Waxman, a Queens College professor; and Moshe Chernigoff, a Brooklyn College student. The forum is set to be held on the second day of Shavuos, Thursday, June 13, at the Young Israel, located at 70-11 150th Street, and will beH moderated by Rabbi Daniel Rosenfelt, YIKGH Rabbi.

Mitchel Aeder has served on the Orthodox Union’s board since the year 2000, and he currently leads as its 18th president. Aeder retired in 2021 from his longtime career as a corporate tax lawyer at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a partner. Aeder is a graduate of Brown University, and New York University Law School.

NYS Assembly Member Nily Rozic was born in Yerushalayim and was raised in the United States. Rozic graduated from Syracuse University’s Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, as well as New York University. Since 2012, she has represented New York’s 25th Assembly District, spanning the northeast portions of Queens, which includes Flushing, Queensboro Hill, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Bayside, and Douglaston. Prior to her election, Rozic had been chief of staff to Assembly Member Brian Kavanagh.

Professor Dr. Jerry (Yushia) Waxman earned his PhD in Computer Science from New York University and served on the faculty of Queens College since 1973.

Moshe Chernigoff, a Rambam Mesivta graduate, spent a year learning at Yeshiva Migdal HaTorah after high school and is now a Brooklyn College junior, where he studies film production.
