Cooking dinner as a couple became a memorable date night when Emet Outreach’s Couple’s Division hosted an enticing class at Apron Masters in Woodmere. Over a three-hour period, 12 couples and some eager Emet staff learned to prepare a three-course meal. “It was our first time offering such an exciting event for couples,” said Shay Yonaiev, Couples Director. “We love providing interactive workshops with useful tips, but cooking gourmet food together took it to another level. The staff at Apron Masters made it easy for us to follow along and feel accomplished.”

On Tuesday, July 12, the Rabbinical Alliance of America/Igud HaRabbonim, gathered together with family and friends at Khal Mevakshei Hashem, located in Lawrence, New York, where Rabbi Yussie Zakutinsky serves as rav, to commemorate the 18^th yahrzeit of its legendary Executive Vice-President, Rabbi Nachum Zvi Josephy, zt”l, HaRav Nachum Tzvi ben HaRav Chaim.

On the morning of Monday, July 4, the Young Israel of Long Beach (YILB), in conjunction with Temple Zion Atlantic and the Long Beach Jewish Center, hosted the kickoff event for the new Community Summer Morning Kollel after the 8:30 a.m. minyan at the Young Israel.

Coalition for Jewish Values (CJV), representing over 2,000 traditional, Orthodox rabbis in American public policy, last week announced the launch of the CJV Healthcare Council, to serve medical practitioners and others in the healthcare industry. The CJV Healthcare Council will advocate for religious liberty, freedom of conscience, and public policy aligned with Jewish values in medical care. CJV said it was responding to both Orthodox Jewish physicians and other pro-values organizations who were seeking an authentic Jewish voice responding to current challenges.

There is no vacation from Torah study for the motivated girls in Emet’s Women’s Division. In fact, this summer the learning just got more creative. Emet recently debuted the first in a four-part series on “Positive Thinking.” Held in a beautiful backyard in Forest Hills, the series kicked off with an engaging and inspirational shiur by Rabbi Shalom Yona Weis. “Emet started this series because the students were asking to have consistent weekly learning during the summer,” said Ms. Adina Fendel, Women’s Director. “We try to provide opportunities to incorporate Torah study during the week, so this was a perfect way to make it relevant and relaxing.”
