Vaad Harabbonim of Queens held an very successful legislative event last Sunday afternoon, May 23, at Shimi Pelman’s Union Plaza Care Center in Flushing. The program drew dozens of Queens County rabbis and Jewish communal professionals, thanks in large part to the outreach of Rabbi Avraham Hecht, Executive Director of Project Lead. For two and half hours, the contingent fought back on anti-Semitism and encouraged others to be cognizant of the world where we live. The event was designed as a means for newer Queens rabbonim to meet our elected officials and learn of potential resources available at their disposal.

The Daughters of the American Revolution made and donated blankets and wraps for veterans. Gary Glick, New York State Commander for The Jewish War Veterans Post 652, picked up the donations. The blankets and wraps were delivered to veterans in the Long Island State Veterans Home in Stonybrook.

Jeff Schoep didn’t set out to become a neo-Nazi. “Nobody wakes up and says I am going to be a bad guy,” he said.

Schoep was the keynote speaker at an anti-hate forum held at PS 99 in Kew Gardens on Wednesday, May 24.

Chazaq proudly hosted a momentous event featuring the esteemed Kaliver Rebbe shlita, the son of the revered tzadik, the Kaliver Rebbe shlita. The event took place on Sunday, May 21, at Congregation Charm Circle in Kew Gardens Hills, where the Rebbe had the privilege of meeting with numerous individuals and families to impart invaluable advice and bestow blessings on behalf of the esteemed Rebbe.

The Ziegfeld Theatre Ballroom in NYC was abuzz on Sunday, May 21, as Migdal Ohr celebrated a yovel of spreading light. The organization honored Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, Chief Rabbi of Migdal HaEmek and President of Migdal Ohr, for his unparalleled lifetime of achievement. Acknowledgment was also given to Tony Fromer and the Fromer and Wexler families for their extraordinary dedication to the children of Migdal Ohr. Opening remarks were delivered by Gilad Erdan, Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations. Dr. Paul Brody, Founders Board Member, American Friends Migdal Ohr (AFMO), has a deep yedidus with Rabbi Grossman that extends over many decades. In May 1988, when he was completing his residency in dermatology at Chicago's famed Cook County Hospital, Dr. Brody initiated the “Chicago Friends of Migdal Ohr,” bringing Rabbi Grossman to Chicago for the very first time, where he captivated the city.
