Just when you thought that all those crazy diseases out there were finally going away, guess what: A new one may be emerging.  This time it’s bird flu. 

Many market gurus have been warning that a terrible selloff lies ahead and that a black swan event -- a devastating development that is completely unexpected -- might trigger it. Could that event be an earthquake or a volcano?

If you still believe that inflation is transitory, clearly you haven’t been doing the shopping lately.  Not only is it not transitory, but it’s getting worse.    

Exactly what are banks up to?  This is a very timely question because many are closing branches, customers are getting little or no notice, and this is happening all around the country. And it’s happening overseas, too. 

Feb. 3, 2022, is a day Facebook shareholders would love to forget, but they won’t.  In fact, at the risk of sounding melodramatic, for them it will live in infamy.

Five decades ago, most of China was poverty-stricken and many regions didn’t even have running water or electricity.  Today, thanks to the ingenuity of the Chinese people, and their hard work and talent, it has become the second largest economy in the world, is a world leader in science and space, and has more foreign exchange reserves than any other country. Given these amazing advances, it makes a lot of sense to watch everything they are doing very closely.
