Connecting the Queens Jewish Community In honor of the 73rd Anniversary of Israel’s Independence, HANC High School celebrated Yom HaAtzmaut 5781 with spirited and meaningful educational programming throughout the day.
Three of our tenth grade Science Institute Research Methodology students won first place in this year’s Nassau Community College Honors Program’s 23rd annual Science Fair Competition for high school students, which took place virtually this year. Submissions were accepted via email and sent out to a team of four judges. Each project was judged under the following criteria: Adherence to the Scientific Method; Creativity and Originality; Clarity, Spelling/Grammar; Relevance to the Theme.
After exploring and studying the similarities and differences between the three types of fiction stories, HALB second graders had the opportunity to compose their own fairytales, folktales, and fables. They went through the entire writing process and published their own stories.
The girls in Yeshiva Sha’arei Zion who participated in the Happily Helping @ Home: Pesach Edition program were treated to an amazing show with the Parrot Rebbe. Congratulations to Avigail Mordechaev, seventh grade, for winning the parakeet!
On Wednesday, April 21, the Yeshiva of Central Queens had its second Torah Bowl competition of the year. Torah Bowl is a competition where several yeshivah teams study two or three parshiyos with their respective “Rashis” and compete against other yeshivos.
The children at HANC ECC West Hempstead enjoyed an amazing Yom HaAtzmaut celebration. They crafted and decorated their own Yom HaAtzmaut crowns and Israeli flags. They enjoyed singing and dancing to Morah Kayli’s beautiful music. Thank you to HANC PTA for providing us with delicious blue and white cookies.
