If you live or work in Kew Gardens Hills, you may remember Robert the Watchmaker, 71. The man with a smile, the Main Street staple is gone but never forgotten. Look at the photo of the short man with a goatee and a kind smile, sometimes with a loupe in one of his eyes as he tinkers with a watch in his small shop nestled between the Main Sweet candy shop and the Men’s Famous barbershop, on the same block as Main Street Cinemas.

Laser Bounce Family Fun Center in Glendale has long been a haven for children seeking fun. Nothing beats the welcoming pings and dings of their arcade games, the joy of children bopping around in the bounce arena, and of course the delight generated when the prize tickets churn out of the gaming machines. Best of all is the laser tag space, where kids get to expend their energy in a fun and safe environment.

Hundreds of mishloach manos came pouring into Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation from community yeshivos, shuls, and residents in celebration of Purim. Ezra Academy and Shevach High School both organized hundreds of bags, while Israel Root of the Five Towns once again coordinated a special delivery with many more boxes full of holiday gifts for the residents of the center. The Queens community drive was led by Ellona Kravitz, who joined with her family for the distribution around the facility.

Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation takes pride in the Jewish senior community of Queens. To celebrate the holiday of Purim, the administration of the facility coordinated the distribution of 450 mishloach manos to local seniors. Led by on-site rabbi Rabbi Zavel Pearlman, the staff bagged gifts for the residents of Boulevard ALP Assisted Living, Commonpoint Queens Central Queens (Formerly known as Central Queens Y), Young Israel of Forest Hills Senior Center, and Young Israel of Queens Valley Senior Center. Paul Kershon and his wife are residents of Forest Hills. Paul has a propensity to give back to his community and chose to spend his day assisting in the packaging effort as the best way to share the smiles and joys of celebration.
