On Wednesday, November 2, HANC Middle School held its Names, Not Numbers© program. Names, Not Numbers is a copyrighted oral history film project and curriculum, which Mrs. Tova Fish-Rosenberg created, that takes the teaching of the Holocaust and its lessons well beyond many previous efforts. Through the Names, Not Numbers© program, HANC’s eighth-grade students had the opportunity to document the teachings of the Holocaust and address questions about an individual’s responsibility to humanity.

What activities did the children have the opportunity to experience?

On Monday, October 24, Shevach High School launched its popular chesed program, under the direction of Shevach assistant principal, Rebbetzin Chani Grunblatt. The theme this year is “Chesed Yesovevenu – We’re on a Roll with Chesed.” The multi-purpose room was decorated beautifully with associated artwork and expressions such as “Chesed Around the Clock,” and “You’re Always a Winner with the Wheel of Chesed.” The chesed “roll models” who headed this exciting event were Shevach seniors Gitty Howitt, Nataly Natanov, Batya Orbach, and Nechama Schwartz.

Eighteen alumni of Rabbi Kiffel’s first grade class from last year worked diligently over the summer to complete the 1K Summer Review Program. These talmidim were invited for a barbecue siyum this past Sunday at their rebbe’s home. Besides the delicacies off the grill, and the fun games, the boys had an uplifting and memorable experience. Recollections from last year were shared and cherished as the boys went down memory lane. The talmidim also received chizuk for future endeavors.

In honor of Parshas Noach, students at SINAI@YCQ learned about primary and secondary colors. Using food coloring, milk, and soap, they saw firsthand how primary colors change into secondary ones!

On Sunday morning, October 23, the fathers of Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s seventh grade were invited to spend the morning bonding with their sons in Yeshiva. The morning began with a special Shacharis minyan for the seventh grade. Afterwards, the fathers and their sons had the opportunity to share breakfast and hear divrei chizuk from Rabbi Elisha Feinberg. A special introduction to Bar Mitzvah for both fathers and sons followed. The seventh grade rebbeim also invited the fathers to join their sons in class for a special father-son shiur.
