Eighth grade girls are currently participating in a Girls Empowerment Program moderated by Dr. Yali Werzberger and Mrs. Bracha Kasirer. Through engaging, interactive, and hands-on activities, students are actively learning about how to prioritize and maximize their physical, mental, and emotional health. In future sessions, students will develop advocacy skills by actively advocating for topics that are important to them.
The MSH Scholars celebrated an extraordinary year filled with learning and growing with a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. In honor of two of the MSH Scholars’ recent success at the Chidon HaTanach, the entire group, accompanied by Menahelet Esther Eisenman and Scholars mentor Aliza Feder, was treated to a private tour of the Museum to bring the Biblical History to life.
The Pesach Prep Program at the Bais Yaakov Academy of Queens culminated last week with a fantastic show! The Pesach Prep Program, which encourages the students to help out at home with Pesach preparations, is one of BYQ’s most popular programs. A month before Pesach, each student receives a Pesach Prep Calendar and is asked to fill in the amount of minutes per day that she helps to get ready for Pesach. Any activity that makes Pesach Prep easier for parents, such as cleaning, babysitting, cooking, shopping with derech eretz and patience (and not kvetching!), keeping occupied and not disturbing when a parent is busy (for younger students), and packing to go away, can be included in the contest. Any student who reaches the allotted amount of time for her grade attends an exciting show.
HALB celebrated Israel turning 71 in a major way! Students in grades 1-8 came together to sing and dance in a “Kululam” style medley. Each grade led a segment in the production and filled the room with energy and excitement. In addition to the song, dance, and concert, meaningful tributes were conducted for members of the HALB family making aliyah. Senator Todd Kaminsky joined us and gave a moving speech about the love and dedication we all should have towards Israel.
