Last year, the Camp Kaylie family mourned the loss of a cherished camper, Yossy Ruttner (Yosef ben Yisrael David Leib z”l). Yossi was a longtime camper. In honor of his memory, a special mishmar learning session and kumsitz were held at Camp Kaylie, bringing together campers, staff, and loved ones to celebrate his life and continue his legacy.

Linda Mirels Named President And Marc Rowan To Chair The Board

UJA-Federation of New York announced that Linda Mirels has been named president and Marc Rowan will serve as chair of the board. The appointments were approved by the Board of Directors and are effective July 1, 2023. Mirels and Rowan succeed the previous president, Amy A. B. Bressman, and the chair of the board, David Moore, whose terms concluded on June 30. UJA-Federation of New York is the largest local philanthropy in the world, helping 4.5 million people annually while funding a network of nonprofits, including social service organizations, Jewish institutions, and community agencies in New York, Israel, and 70 countries.

On Sunday, June 25, the Queens Jewish Center celebrated 80 years since its founding. More than 100 people gathered for their annual Journal Dinner at Simcha Palace in Kew Gardens Hills.

Touro University Illinois/HTC held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, dedicating the Rabbi Fabian and Ruth Schonfeld Campus in Skokie, Illinois. More than 200 people attended, including Rabbi Shabsai and Debby Wolfe, who dedicated the campus, Rabbi Yoel and Rebbetzin Peri Schonfeld, Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish, Hebrew Theological College (HTC) CEO Rabbi Shmuel Leib Schuman, and Touro University Illinois Associate Provost, Dr. Chani Tessler. The campus is set to be used as both a yeshivah and a science and research facility.
