At the 100th Annual Veterans Day Parade on Monday, spectators gathered along Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue to commemorate the bravery of American veterans, past and present. In attendance were servicemen and women from World War II through the Afghanistan War, as well as active duty and reserve troops.
The Apple Bank Forest Hills and Kew Gardens branches held their joint AppleConnect ’19 event on Wednesday evening, October 30, at the 102-35 Queens Boulevard location in Forest Hills. Key members of the community met and mingled with Apple bankers and customers, entrepreneurs, and business owners in a casual and relaxed atmosphere. The glatt kosher hors d’oeuvres from the bank’s neighbor, Da Mikelle Restaurant, were certainly appreciated by attendees. Queens Jewish Link co-publisher Yaakov Serle won the Apple iPad drawing.
It’s way past normal working hours but the crew at Agra d’Pirka headquarters are oblivious to the time. For the past several weeks, as the Agra d’Pirka Decade Dinner event steadily approaches, they’ve been working weekends and evenings, and doing lots of overtime. But they are not resentful or annoyed. In fact, they are invariably cheerful and enthusiastic. That’s because they are working on a project that’s meaningful, inspiring, and dear to their hearts. And they know that they’re part of something big.
Hundreds of people gathered to celebrate the 25th (Silver) Anniversary of the Rachel’s Children Reclamation Foundation (RCRF) on Motza’ei Shabbos, November 9, at the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center, to commemorate the yahrzeit of Rachel Imeinu (11 MarCheshvan), making it a special night to remember. The overflow crowd of nearly 300 people joined the Master of Ceremonies, activist Dr. Paul Brody, and his lovely wife Drora, as the evening got underway.
Over 300 Queens residents listened and learned at the fourth annual Eldercare Expo and Conference for seniors and their caregivers at the Queens College Fitzgerald Gym this past Sunday, November 17. Shea Rubenstein, Executive Vice President of the JCC of Marine Park, observed that “it was great to see such a diverse crowd” attend the eldercare conference and discover new opportunities from the “important topics covered at the day’s seminars.”
