Chazaq and Chickens for Shabbos hosted a new series on “Let’s Be Our Best with Rabbi Lazer Brody,” author and inspirational speaker. Rabbi Brody shared a virtual shiur on Motza’ei Shabbos, January 29, on focusing on a goal. “The difference between people who succeed and those who don’t is those who do are totally focused on their goal. Those who don’t succeed don’t have a specific goal in mind. There’s an expression in English, “pastime.” This means no purpose. Any marksman or archer knows that to hit the bullseye you need to be honed in and focused on the target. You need total concentration.

On Sunday evening, January 16, Let’s Get Real with Coach Menachem Bernfeld featured a lecture on dealing with trauma. Rabbi Joey Rosenfeld, LCSW, Director of Spiritual Programming at Harris House Treatment and Recovery Center in St. Louis, was the guest speaker.

On Sunday night, January 23, Let’s Get Real With Coach Menachem featured Rabbi David Becker, LCSW-CCSP, Adjunct Professor at the Wurzweiler Graduate School of Social Work of Yeshiva University, and psychotherapist specializing in ADHD.

On Sunday evening, January 9, Dr. Norman Blumenthal, PhD, Director of Trauma, Bereavement, and Crisis Intervention at OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services, and Education Director of the Bella and Harry Wexner Kollel Elyon and S’michah Honors Program at the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS), spoke at a community-wide virtual event sponsored by the Vaad Harabonim of Queens, Ohel, and Nefesh.

On Thursday evening, December 23, Chazaq hosted an event at Congregation Bet-El in Jamaica Estates with Rebbetzin Slovie Jungreis Wolff, author, lecturer, and daughter of the famous Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis a”h, on how to deal with pain and loss through the power of emunah. The shiur was given in memory of Liel Dinah bas Efrayim, a very special young lady who was tragically killed recently in a car accident.

On Tuesday evening, January 11, Navigating the Medical System featured an informative virtual lecture on Multiple Sclerosis (MS), hosted by Congregation Etz Chaim. Jai S. Perumal, MD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neuroscience at Weill Cornell Medicine and Attending Neurologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Queens, shared a detailed lecture on Multiple Sclerosis.
