Dr. Joseph Donath’s recent “Your Say” letter to the editor did not surprise me in the least. The current situation involving the Department of Sanitation, Department of Buildings, and other city agencies empowered to issue tickets has become a glaring example of unchecked bureaucracy.

Here it is, Friday, November 29, and I’m sitting at my breakfast table drinking coffee, eating my doughnut and $6.2-million banana, and writing this article. What? You’re all wondering why I’m not lining up in front of _____(Name the store) on Black Friday. I should be contributing to the US economy and purchasing items I don’t need but that are on sale.
