Chaverim of Queens celebrated its “bar mitzvah” this past Thursday at the Annual Queens Chaverim Appreciation Dinner. Now with over 100 active volunteers, Chaverim continues to be a vital source for non-medical emergency situations throughout literally all areas of Queens, as well as Great Neck.
This past week, the Chazaq organization had the honor of having Rabbi Yaakov Mizrahi (Rav, Har Halebanon
in Brooklyn) visit the Chazaq headquarters in KGH and get a glimpse into Chazaq’s holy work.
In a time when anti-Semitism is on the rise and Jewish values are under attack, the Jewish community of New York is glad to see that Brooklyn Borough President and mayoral candidate Eric Adams is leading the polls to become mayor of New York.
On Tuesday, the eight co-chairs of the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism issued the following joint statement in response to the disturbing rise of antisemitic attacks and violence targeting the Jewish community:
On Wednesday, May 19, the eleventh grade of Shevach High School was privileged to visit a unique exhibit created by the students of the Bais Yaakov of Baltimore. Titled “Journeys Through the Generations,” the exhibit allowed visitors to learn about Jewish history throughout the ages through a creative tour that consisted of sophisticated museum-like displays featuring Jewish life in over 30 countries worldwide. The Shevach girls were excited to review their lessons in Jewish history in a fun way and to interact with the Baltimore students.
The people of this country are blessed. The unprecedented speed of development and deployment of the vaccine for COVID-19 has brought us to a place where with G-d’s continued help and blessing we can hope that the worst of the pandemic is behind us.
