Queens College marked a significant milestone on Sunday, May 12, as President Frank Wu joined a reception celebrating this year’s Jewish Studies graduates. Organized by Arnold Franklin, Director of Jewish Studies, the event honored students' achievements and gave them a chance to reflect on their academic journeys. President Wu’s presence underscored his support for the Jewish Studies program and the broader Jewish community at Queens College.

The festive atmosphere continued outside on the Quad, where Israel Fest was in full swing. With perfect spring weather, students, faculty, and community members came together to celebrate Israeli culture. The event was organized by the QC Israeli Student Association (QCISA) and QC Hillel, with support from other student groups. Attendees enjoyed Israeli music, food, and a range of cultural activities, fostering a sense of unity and pride.

Earlier in the month, Queens College welcomed back alumna Esther Fuchs, now a professor of international and public affairs and political science at Columbia University. Fuchs, who also directs Columbia’s Urban and Social Policy Program, delivered an impactful lecture on antisemitism and the future of higher education. Drawing from her experience as co-chair of Columbia’s antisemitism task force, Fuchs shared insights into the challenges facing Jewish students on campuses across the country. The well-attended event was presented by the Center for Jewish Studies and co-sponsored by Queens College Hillel, the Center for Ethnic, Racial, and Religious Understanding, and the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC).
