The Republican Presidential candidates descended on the Iowa State Fair last week, and the 2024 primary is ramping up.  With a comfortable lead in polling and no shortage of supporters, former President Donald Trump looks like he will comfortably take the nomination once again.  He will not be on the debate stage in a couple weeks, and refuses to sign the loyalty pledge vowing support of any nominee should he lose. So the question for anyone wanting to see Joe Biden out of office is: Can Trump pull off another miracle?

The City University of New York, comprising more than two dozen colleges throughout the five boroughs, has an anti-Semitism problem. For years, Jewish professors and students at several campuses have felt targeted and harassed for their religion and their Zionism. Now, for the great crime of complaining about this, four Jewish professors are the subject of investigations.

The upcoming election offers us a crucial opportunity to make a difference in our community, and Sam Berger, a moderate Democrat, stands out as the candidate who can represent our interests effectively.

How should we address anti-Semitism on campus? Such was the topic at the Hamptons Synagogue with CUNY Chancellor Felix V. Matos Rodriguez, moderated by Rabbi Marc Schneier last Sunday. It was the Chancellor’s first public address to a Jewish audience since CUNY Law graduate Fatima Mohammed’s May 12 commencement speech that accused Israel of “indiscriminately murdering Palestinians.” The anti-Semitism that has risen in our society has been especially manifest at CUNY in recent years.

New York City has hit a breaking point with the surge of illegal migrants hitting the country’s most populous city. In the past year, the city has faced an overwhelming influx of over 90,000 migrants, posing a significant challenge to its resources and infrastructure. City leadership is finally acknowledging the role of the federal government in this crisis – but it’s too little too late.

Israel can regain the world’s respect by embracing its real strength: its heritage. As the ambulances were whisking away the injured from the recent car-ramming terror attack in Tel Aviv, the International Red Cross was setting its sights on what it sees as the real culprit in the ongoing violence: Israel, of course. As always, when Israel’s enemies force it to choose between self-defense or destruction, the world is dismayed, not by the needless instigation by its enemies, but by Israel’s response. In the UN, Israel is the designated punching bag, and even the United States disrespects Israel by appointing members of anti-Israel groups to the US Holocaust Memorial Council. Israel’s attempts to gain the respect it deserves are not succeeding, and it’s worth considering why.
