Connecting the Queens Jewish Community 
Shalom Task Force, an organization dedicated to fostering healthy relationships within the Jewish community, hosted the “Let’s Talk Relationships,” a workshop for Seminary and Gap-Year Program students at the Nefesh B’Nefesh Aliyah Campus in Jerusalem. The program, held on May 15, brought together students from 10 different seminaries for an enriching evening of learning and discussion.
The first plaque explaining a building’s historical, cultural, and architectural significance in Forest Hills went up on Sunday, June 4. More are coming.
Chazaq, a prominent non-profit organization dedicated to Jewish outreach, is thrilled to announce an upcoming Jewish Cultural Carnival on Sunday, June 11, presented in conjunction with the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI) and Councilman James F. Gennaro. This highly anticipated event, now in its annual iteration, will once again bring together a wide range of attractions and performances, creating a festive and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees.
Our efforts in fulfilling one mitzvah always contribute to the fulfillment of another. This concept is highlighted in Parshas B’Haaloscha, where the unique mitzvah of Pesach Sheini is introduced.
In anticipation of Shavuot, the Couples Division of Emet Outreach hosted a workshop to help couples appreciate the connection between Matan Torah and marriage. Held at the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, the event drew 50 people who were eager to participate in this latest installment of monthly relationship-oriented lectures.
Vaad Harabbonim of Queens held an very successful legislative event last Sunday afternoon, May 23, at Shimi Pelman’s Union Plaza Care Center in Flushing. The program drew dozens of Queens County rabbis and Jewish communal professionals, thanks in large part to the outreach of Rabbi Avraham Hecht, Executive Director of Project Lead. For two and half hours, the contingent fought back on anti-Semitism and encouraged others to be cognizant of the world where we live. The event was designed as a means for newer Queens rabbonim to meet our elected officials and learn of potential resources available at their disposal.
