The effort to keep Rep. Grace Meng in her central Queens seat delivered a resounding victory for the four-term Congresswoman, with nearly two-thirds of the vote as of Tuesday night in her favor. The remainder was divided between Mel Gagarin and Sandra Choi. For the Queens Jewish community, turnout was key in the wide margin of victory that sent a message of support for Israel against a politically inexperienced challenger whose tweets demonstrated hostility towards the Jewish state.

Spread across a rolling landscape of single-family homes, the neighborhood of Fresh Meadows has a suburban look within the city’s borders. But in the past four years, the 11-story Wyndham Garden Hotel on 186^th Street, near the Long Island Expressway, has been a source of anxiety for neighbors. The most recent example was a notice sent to neighbors by the 107^th police precinct.

On Monday, the Association of Jewish Camp Operators (AJCO), took the extraordinary move of requesting a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to ask the court to immediately open overnight camps in New York State. 

New York City’s revamped COVID-19 Food Delivery program now allows New Yorkers to schedule a month of free kosher grocery deliveries, Met Council announced this week. With a single 311 call or by visiting NYC.gov/getFood, New York City residents who need kosher groceries can get it delivered to their home for free due to the threat of COVID-19. It remains a daily challenge for many vulnerable New Yorkers, and by streamlining the meals delivery process, the city will help households get the groceries they need so residents can stay as safe as possible.
