The Yeshiva of Central Queens is thrilled to introduce their newest staff members, a dynamic group of experienced educators and administrators who will complement our spectacular returning faculty. From general and Judaic studies to the arts, sciences, and student support, these talented individuals will enrich every area of school life and enhance the overall YCQ experience. The YCQ administration is confident that they will inspire curiosity, foster growth, and strengthen the Torah values and commitment to midos that lie at the heart of YCQ’s mission.

Ms. Yael Herskowitz – Director of Student Services

Ms. Yael Herskowitz brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to supporting students and their needs. She joins us from Luria Academy of Brooklyn and previously served as the Director of Student Services at Yeshiva Har Torah. Her expertise and passion will be a tremendous asset to our Yeshiva.

Mr. Michael Weiss – Director of Operations

Mr. Michael Weiss brings extensive experience in emergency management, security, and facility operations to YCQ. He looks forward to ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment and joining our community for a successful 2025-2026 school year.

Morah Ilana Appel – UPK-3 Head Teacher

Morah Ilana Appel is excited to join YCQ as the new 3K teacher. She holds a master’s degree in Early Childhood and Special Education and has spent the last five years as a lead teacher. She looks forward to meeting her students, collaborating with her colleagues, and becoming part of the YCQ community.

Rabbi Menashe Babekov – JHS Rebbe & Science

Rabbi Menashe Babekov has taught science for over a decade and has also served as a spiritual leader, hazzan, and bar mitzvah teacher. Rabbi Babekov is also a proud YCQ parent. This year, he is excited to join YCQ as the sixth-grade Earth Science teacher and seventh-grade boys’ rebbi.

Morah Avital Basalel – JHS Morah (Proud YCQ Graduate)

Morah Avital Basalel is excited to join the JHS faculty this year. With a strong background in teaching and a commitment to fostering student growth, she is eager to create a warm and engaging classroom environment.

Morah Tali Brody – Grades N-5 Music

Morah Tali has taught at YCQ for the past 13 years, inspiring students to connect with music and dance in meaningful ways. She is especially excited to take on the Early Childhood curriculum this year, helping our youngest learners explore rhythm, movement, and song with joy.

Morah Courtney Isler – Kindergarten Head Teacher (Proud YCQ Graduate)

Morah Courtney Isler previously served as the Associate Kindergarten teacher at YCQ and is now stepping into the role of Head Teacher. She brings a strong background in education, a love of working with children, and a dedication to fostering a positive and nurturing classroom environment.

Mrs. Fruma Kolsky – Grade 4 General Studies

Mrs. Fruma Kolsky joins the YCQ family with great joy and enthusiasm. She brings many years of teaching experience along with a deep love and commitment to education.

Morah Naama Laster – Judaic Studies Resource Room

Morah Naama Laster is excited to join YCQ as a resource room teacher for Judaic studies in both the ES and JHS. She previously taught at Manhattan Day School and is looking forward to helping students build skills, confidence, and a love of learning.

Mrs. Anna Lian – Grade 4 General Studies

Mrs. Anna Lian has taught third and fourth grade for the past eight years. She is passionate about instilling a love for learning, inquiry, and exploration while providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Morah Tali Manshary – Early Childhood & Elementary Ivrit

Morah Tali Manshary brings energy and a love of learning to her role at YCQ. She is dedicated to guiding her students academically while supporting their personal development.

Mrs. Leah Scheinman – JHS Administrative Assistant

Mrs. Leah Scheinman is continuing in her role as JHS Administrative Assistant after joining the office at the end of last year. She brings valuable experience, a positive attitude, and strong organizational skills that make her a tremendous asset to the team.

Mrs. Donna Scigliano – Grade 3 General Studies

Mrs. Donna Scigliano brings extensive classroom experience and a passion for helping students reach their fullest potential.

Morah Daniella Shamalov – General Studies Resource Room (Proud YCQ Graduate)

Morah Daniella Shamalov, a proud YCQ alumna, is pursuing a dual degree in Early Childhood and Special Education at Pace University. She is thrilled to return as a resource room teacher and looks forward to supporting her students’ growth.
